Black Housing: More Than Just Aesthetics—A Necessity for Harsh Environments
In outdoor FTTx deployments, terminal boxes are frequently exposed to direct sunlight, wind-blown sand, or specific surveillance environments. Moving away from the traditional white, the DHT008-2 utilizes an all-black PC+ABS alloy housing. As shown in photos 1, 2, and 5, the black casing effectively absorbs ultraviolet (UV) radiation—delaying plastic aging and embrittlement—while minimizing visual obtrusiveness in concealed installation scenarios.

Internal Metal Reinforcement and Cable Management: The black base features two metal fiber optic cable anchors (secured with screws). Unlike plastic clips, these metal components firmly lock the feeder cable’s strength member in place, withstanding the strain of strong outdoor winds. The black flip-style splice tray creates a clear physical separation from the base’s cable routing channels, ensuring that optical cables, pigtails, and patch cords do not interfere with one another.

Concealed Cable Entry/Exit Design: The bottom-left section accommodates two large-aperture waterproof connectors, while the right side features a row of eight black rubber dust plugs. Unused ports remain tightly sealed to maintain an IP66 protection rating; as the user base grows, capacity can be flexibly expanded simply by removing a dust plug to connect an incoming cable.
Secure Locking Mechanism: The unit employs a side-mounted metal screw-lock design. Unlike padlocks, this mechanism prevents accidental opening by unauthorized personnel and eliminates the operational hassles associated with lost keys. Combined with a thick, white sealing gasket lining the interior, it ensures IP66-rated protection against powerful water jets.
